Addiction is an insidious disease which can overwhelm otherwise healthy, happy people. It erodes the ability to be productive members of society and invades their moral and ethical foundations. This invasion destroys all sorts of relationships including family and friends, and leaves the victim’s without hope.
But while addiction is not curable, it is treatable. And that treatment begins with intervention. Any one who has suffered from this sickness realizes the most likely outcome for them is death, jail or institution, if they go untreated. There is no such thing as spontaneous recovery. They need to be treated.
